Karen Sperling, the original Corel Painter expert, is pleased to announce that the new home for her Artistry Retreats and The Artistry GARTEL Marketing Seminars is Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Starting with the upcoming Artistry Retreat and The Artistry GARTEL Marketing Seminars September 24-28, 2007, the Artistry Retreats’ 4th anniversary, photographers will not only learn techniques for creating paintings from photos and marketing them, but will also be privileged to bask in the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean from the world-class luxury of the Villa Graziadio Executive Center at Pepperdine University, nestled in the tranquil Santa Monica mountains in exquisite Malibu, California.
Meanwhile, Karen has created a new seminar, The Artistry Painting Faces Retreat, also in Malibu, October 10, 11 and 12, 2007.
While the Artistry Retreat covers both faces/portraits and landscapes, the Artistry Painting Faces Retreat focuses completely on faces and portraits.
In the Artistry Retreat you learn to paint facial features, hair and other parts of the portrait.
In the Artistry Painting Faces Retreat you will also learn how to paint these portrait components, plus you will go further into learning about other artists’ styles with the goal of developing your own, unique portrait style.
Study the distinguishing characteristics that separate a John Singer Sargent portrait from a Mary Cassatt portrait.
Learn how to give your portraits an Impressionist look or a contemporary one.
In both the Artistry Retreats and Artistry Painting Faces Retreats, find out the art concepts and Painter steps so that you can paint professional-level portraits yourself.
Taught by author, artist, photographer and original Painter expert, Karen Sperling, who has been writing about and teaching Corel Painter longer than anyone, having written the first Painter manual when the program debuted 16 years ago, The Artistry Retreats and Artistry Painting Faces Retreats give you not just the Painter steps. You also learn the art concepts for turning photos into paintings in Painter. Art concepts include things like how to know if a photo is a good candidate to be turned into a painting in Painter and how to choose colors.
Teaching the Artistry GARTEL Marketing Seminars is digital media pioneer Laurence Gartel, who has exhibited his artwork internationally in museums and galleries for over 30 years.
Laurence covers out-of-the-box marketing concepts; provides steps for developing a niche, including ways to get happily published to enhance your image; and how to respond to the inevitable questions about digital art.
Whether you have your own portrait studio, or you are interested in selling painted photos and paintings in other ways, Laurence Gartel can guide you on the path to selling your work.
