SPAA crowns 15 winning sports photographers

The Sports Photographers Association of America (SPAA®) – a PMA member association – crowned three winners in five categories in the second annual SPAA Photo Competition during the SPAA 2009 Supplier Luncheon today at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, Las Vegas, Nev. Each first place winner was awarded a lightweight, 12.1 megapixel Nikon D700 camera body.

The panel of four judges included two professional photographers from Sports Illustrated and two professional sports photographers. Three winning photographs from each category are on display on the Level 2 of the Las Vegas Convention Center, where the educational sessions take place. These images and more will also be posted on the SPAA website the afternoon of March 3. (www.sportsphotographers.org)

Other SPAA activities at PMA 09 include the SPAA Action Photography Shoot-Out, featuring the acclaimed performance troupe, AntiGravity, performing eight times during PMA 09,
Tuesday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 4, at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., at Booth  P210, on the Level 2 of the trade show. PMA 09 attendees are encouraged to bring their camera and capture the aerial AntiGravity athletics; take their best photo and print it out at the Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Inc. Booth Q161, and enter to win a trip to PMA 2010.
