Filter Forge for Mac OS X Released – Do It Yourself Photoshop Filters

After a successful beta test, Filter Forge, Inc. today announced the final release of the long-awaited Mac OS X version of Filter Forge, an innovative high-end plugin for Adobe Photoshop allowing computer artists to build their own filters — seamless textures, visual effects, distortions, patterns, backgrounds, frames and more. The key feature of Filter Forge is the visual filter editor allowing users to build custom filters without writing a single line of code. Filters are assembled from components such as blurs, gradients, color adjustments, distortions, or blending, into a network to combine their effects. For end-users, the filter internals are hidden behind a simple set of filter controls — anyone can immediately benefit from filters without having to learn their inner workings.

Another major feature is the free online library of user-generated filters, which makes Filter Forge instantly useful for anyone who has no time to learn how to create filters. All filters are adjustable, seamlessly tiled, resolution independent, support real-world HDRI lighting, and can automatically generate diffuse, specular, bump, and normal maps. At the moment, the filter library contains about 6000 filters, with new filters added every day. To view the filters, click here:

Filter Forge is available in six differently priced editions targeted at entry-level, mainstream and professional graphic artists. Starting March 31, all editions of Filter Forge for both Windows and Mac OS X are offered at a special 30% discount — customers can save up to $90. To buy Filter Forge at a 30% discount, click here:
