Canon’s first underwater camcorder housing takes movie making below sea level

The WP-V1 waterproof camcorder housing enables use of Canon’s full High Definition HF20 and HF200 camcorders at depths of up to 40 metres underwater.Underwater video housingSnorkelers and surfers alike will be thrilled that Canon’s WP-V1 waterproof camcorder housing will be available in Australia by the end of this month. For use with the LEGRIA HF20 and HF200 camcorders released earlier this year, the WP-V1 will allow users to capture spectacular full High Definition underwater movies to a depth of 40 metres.

Shooting beautiful High Definition footage in an underwater environment is made possible by the Underwater Mode on the HF20/HF200.  This mode allows users to record videos with a natural colour palate and to capture subjects as close as 30cm to the lens window when shooting in full wide angle.

A first for Canon video, the WP-V1 makes underwater shooting simple and easy by featuring a large zoom lever for precise operation and oversized, colour-coded buttons to prevent operating errors.

The WP-V1 is designed for effortless movement underwater and as such is compact and light. The casing is constructed using polycarbonate, white plate glass and stainless steel. Double-paned glass lens window with multicoating on both sides prevents reflected light.

Key Features:

  • Watertight to depths up to 40 metres (130ft)
  • Compact and lightweight (approx. 845g)
  • Easy-to-use button controls
  • Tripod socket
  • Mounting ring for accessories (67mm filter diameter)
