Extensis Portfolio Image Collage Competition
Results of the April Competition
Another month and more images to consider.
The April Winner of the Extensis Portfolio 8 software is Laurie Thompson, New Orleans, La, USA, with his entry 'Bits and Pieces'

After photographing several times in the worst flooded areas of New Orleans, I began to look past the destroyed mud covered houses to the little bits and pieces of peoples lives that had been washed out of the houses with the flood waters. I found the doll in one yard, the wagon in another, etc. The flood waters of Lake Ponchartrain evidently washed the birdseed, including sunflower seeds, from the neighborhood bird feeders. Now that Spring has come to the city and even though these neighborhoods are still deserted, the sunflower seeds that were left when the flood receded are growing and blooming in the dried mud. A small sign that life will return here one day.

Judges comments: 'Great color progression through the image that gives a strong feeling of place.'
It is entitled Chatham. It is a collage of photographs I took of the rural town of Chatham which is in upstate NY. I wanted to portray the idyllic tranquility and beauty of this place in one image which a single photo cannot do. I put several images together in such a way that they related to each other as separate pieces and also as a whole.
The image was created in Photoshop with multiple layers and effects.

It is entitled Disjointed, and is a very personal statement. It is a collage of photographs which my daughter and I took, and contains images of myself (eight in all). I created this image to reflect the feeling that there are so many disparate parts of my life which seem to be separate entities and cannot be united. The only common denominator is me; yet I wish for wholeness. "Sometimes the pieces just don't seem to fit."
The image was created in Photoshop with multiple layers and effects.
