Extensis Portfolio Image Collage Competition
Results of the May Competition
Another month and more images to consider.
The May Winner of the Extensis Portfolio 8 software is SkyDancer, of Saline, MI, USA, with her entry 'The Turning of the Wheel'

This was created in Photoshop 7. The figures were created and rendered in Bryce 5, as was the shadowy stuctural shapes in the right background. Photos of rusty textures and roots are my own. I used many layers and masking and some hand-painting to create the final image.
The Turning of the Wheel of time. Creation, destruction, confrontation and resolution are all rooted here.
Judges comments: 'A collage does not have to be of conventional images. Rather, as here, images can be computer create or a mix of computer generated and photographic images. A lovely image with great texture and light.'
Runners up were:
SkyDancer, Saline, MI, USA

Judges comments: 'A complex piece with lovely color with a nice mix of both symmetrical and asymmetrical elements'
Title: He of the Summer Woods
This was created in Photoshop 7 using 30 or 40 layers, a great deal of masking, and dozens of photos I'd taken over a span of several years.
The meaning of this image is difficult to put into words because its meant to speak to a level of being that is beyond words. The life energy of all the living things of the woods is represented, and if you have ever walked the woods or fields, shorelines or mountains, and have experienced that moment of silence, of "Being", then you will understand.

Judge's comments: 'Good sense of fun in this image'
Alter Ego -
The fun ego gets ready to party - the cautious ego stays behind the scenes and worries!
The background is from an interesting bit of New Orleans that is gone away now - A boarded up storefront had become, for years, a catch all for stapled up flyers. Never totally taken down, the staples and scraps of flyers remained until the weather wore them out
also

Staying Vertical -
The figure is trying to resist the swirling waters heading down the drain!
To get the drain image I photographed my kitchen sink with water running.

Judges comments: 'Nicely constructed.'
This shows a juried photo exhibit at the recent Clark County Fair. It is a two-shot panorama merged with Autostitch. The original photos were then cut and replaced by my own stock, aspect-corrected to the individual frames. The overall mat and frame effect was accomplished using various Photoshop tools. All ten photos are from the Nikon D1x using various lenses.
