MaxMax.com Infrared Photography Competition

Runs December, January and February with Grand Prize Winner Announced at the end of February

MaxMax.com provide a number of products of interest to infrared photographers, filters and camera conversions, among others.

In the MaxMax.com Infrared Photography Competition we are looking for your best infrared photograph.

For articles on how to shoot digital infrared and examples of shots taken with normal digital cameras, see the special infrared photography section on DIMi.

Three monthly prizes of a 58mm XDP Infrared filter will be awarded to a winning entry received at DIMi during the appropriate month. The XDP is an unusual infrared filter in that it has dual transmission peaks, one around 1000nm and one lower down. This provides greater detail than the heavy-duty 1000nm effect whilst still offering a very strong IR effect.

At the end of the competition the Grand Prize Winner will be chosen from the monthly winners. The Grand Prize is a conversion of a digital camera that MaxMax.com can convert to an IR only mode. You need to provide the camera but the prize is a full conversion. This is a US$450 value prize.

Winning entries may be used by MaxMax.com for promotional use only. Monthly finalists may also be displayed on the MaxMax.com gallery pages, in addition to on DIMi. Full acknowledgement of the photographer will always appear with the images.

With your entry you must provide full details of the camera and lens used, which filter and/or film (if any) and exposure details. Simulated IR using PS filters and actions are not accepted and by entering you certify that the shot was actually photographed using IR.

You may enter three images each month.

So, how do I enter?

Read the general terms and conditions here.

Entries will be accepted in the months of December 2006 and January and February 2007 only. For this competition an infrared photograph is any photography (digital or analog) that has been shoot using the infrared part (substantially) of the light spectrum. Apart from that, anything goes.

An individual may make up to three entries each month. Any additional after the first three will not be examined. Acknowledgements of receipt of entries will not be made, so please do not ask. Entries must be of still images. You must email a JPEG, sized to less than 1000 x 1000 pixels, but make sure the width is at least 600 pixels. Included in the email must be a short (less than 300 word) description of how you created the entry and what it is. Also include your full name, mailing address, email address and web site (if you have one). Please also indicate in your entry if you are happy for a link to your web site to be displayed with your entry.

Each month a number of entries will be shortlisted and displayed on the DIMi web site. Shortly after the end of the month a winner will be chosen from these shortlisted entries. All shortlisted entries and the winners will be displayed on the DIMi web site, with appropriate attribution, for at least 12 months after the competition closes, to serve as inspiration for other web site visitors. Judging will be performed by DIMi and no discussion will be entered into.

Email your entries to maxmax@dimagemaker.com

Your entry indicates your acceptance of both the general and above specific terms and conditions.
