These entries caught the judges' eyes for a number of reasons.
Larry Hill, of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

This scene overlooks the scrappy little road connecting Beatty, Nevada and Big Pine, California as it pushes over the White Mountains. The panorama was assembled, adjusted and corrected from four images using Photoshop CS. It was photographed with the Nikon D1x using a Promaster 60-300 f/4-5.6.
Elliot Rogers, Beaverton, OR, USA http://eliotrogers.smugmug.com

This photo was taken from the Monte dei Cappuccini church looking out over Torino last November. The images were shot with a Nikon D70 and stitched together using Hugin and Enblend.
Dave McCubbin , Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada

These are panoramic images I took while on vacation in Mont Tremblant, Quebec in the summer of 2005. Each panorama is made up of 8 images and stitched manually in Photoshop CS. The images were taken using an Olympus c4000 digital camera and a .25X wide angel adapter. The panoramas are of two mountain lakes in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, Canada.
Craig O'Brien, of Thirroul, NSW, Australia http://web.mac.com/craigdj

The "Bark Tree Hotel" is located at Nerriga NSW, Australia. It's a pretty typical small country Aussie pub, the Bushranger Ned Kelly stands guard on the roof waiting for passing travellers - not to
rob them of any cash but to welcome likable rogues in for a beer.
The photograph was shot on a Nikon F70 using 35mm negative film. The resulting 18 images were scanned on a FlexTight 949 then combined using Apple's QuickTime VR Authoring Studio
producing a 14900 x 2334 pixel image for a LightJet Photographic printer.

This pano is a compilation of 13 different images taken with my HP945 with auto settings at one of the last home games of the regular season at the Old Busch Stadium in St. Louis (on Tuesday October 4th 2005 against the San Diego Padres). Since then the stadium has been destroyed and a new one has been constructed.
At full resolution this pano about 27.5 mega pixels. The most
difficult part was matching the sky, which was made of 4 different
images.
Many similar panos of the Old Busch Stadium are around, but I have not seen any that include the crane which was used in constructing the New Busch Stadium while the season was winding down.
