My Sydney now photo competition

Show us ‘your Sydney’ for the chance to win one of four Nikon digital camera packagesrnEntries now open until Friday 15 February 2008
Press Release

The Museum of Sydney and Nikon Australia are giving budding photographers the chance to capture their Sydney moments and win one of four Nikon digital camera packages valued at $5000 as part of the new photography exhibition Sydney now: new Australian photojournalism.

Sydney now curator Inara Walden says ‘Whether you live in Sydney or are just visiting, we want to see what’s going on in your Sydney right now.’

‘We’re looking for photos that capture what this city means to you. Your photo might show your favourite place or people, it could portray a lifestyle or capture a quiet moment from everyday life – anything that has meaning for you in terms of the way you experience Sydney today.

‘Traditionally when we think of photojournalism, we think of pictures made in other places, but today a new generation of photojournalists is placing the same emphasis on documenting what’s happening right here in our own society. This is the challenge of the competition – to capture the energy, diversity and wonder found in Sydney’s everyday lived experience. It may even be found in your own backyard,’ says Walden.

Visit to enter and then upload your photo that captures a slice of Sydney life to the Flickr website by Friday 15 February 2008.
