We test the Pentax K10D for image noise during daylight hours with short exposures.
The Pentax K10D digital SLR camera is an impressive camera and takes great images.
The Modern Henge – The MCG
We were curious to see how it would handle from a noise perspective.
Test 1 (base exposure 1/250 second at f7.1 and 100ISO)
Test 2 (base exposure 1/160 second at f6.3 and 100ISO)
If you examine these, or the full sized RAW files on the site, you will see that image noise is very well controlled on the K10D digital camera at 100 and 200ISO, is noticeable at 400ISO and becomes very strong and objectionable at 800 and 1600ISO. So you can’t really describe the K10D as an ideal camera for very low light work. That said image quality is very good at the lower ISO settings.
